"Behold, the great day of the Lord is at hand, and who can abide the day of his coming, and who can stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap; and he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver, and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the Lord an offering in righteousness. Let us, therefore, as a chruch and a people and as Latter-day Saints, offer unto the Lord an offereing in righteousness; and let us present in his holy temple, when it is finished, a book containing the records of our dead, whech shall be worthy of all acceptation" (D&C 128:24).

Lesson #1 Handout #1

Using a Flash Drive or Memory Stick
Handout

Getting started:

1. Insert Memory stick in USB port before opening Paf.

2. Open PAF. Now PAF will recognize the USB port as an active drive and assigns it a name (such as drive E, F, G, H, or I. Please note: The name of the drive will vary from one computer to another.)

3. Leave the Device in the USB port while you are working.

4. When finished be sure to make a backup.

To backup:

1. Please note: these backup instructions are for here at the FH Center since most of us use the 3.5 disk in Drive A. When at home, you can set your preferences to automatically backup to your flash drive, whatever drive that is.

2. Click on File, then on Backup.

3. A Box will pop up asking you to “Please insert a disk into Drive A”.

4. Click Cancel.

5. Back up file to screen will appear. (It is asking, “Where do you want to back it up?”)

6. Click on drop-down arrow in the window.

7. Click on Removable disk (the disk drive your computer assigned to your flash drive).

8. Click Backup. Do not remove the device yet!

Removing the Device:

1. Close all programs using this device.

2. Click on the little green arrow in the lower right end of the task bar.

3. A message pops up saying, Safe to Remove Device. Do not remove it.

4. Click on the message.

5. Another larger message appears saying, Safely remove Hardware.

6. Click on it. Watch to see that the “busy light” on the memory stick goes out.

7. Remove the Memory stick.

Caution: If message appears stating that you cannot remove device, check to see that you have closed all programs running, and then try to turn off the device again. If all else fails, then you will need to turn off the computer. When the light on the stick goes out, you can safely remove the device.
